INSTALLING ORACLE WEBLOGIC SERVER 11G ON WINDOWS-32BIT

I am installing oracle weblogic server 10.3.6.0 i.e oracle weblogic server 11g. I am using 32 bit setup.
You can download the setup file from : http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic/downloads/wls-main-097127.html. Before installation let me brief you about installation modes.



There are basically three modes of installation
 
1. Graphical Mode
2. Console Mode
3. Silent Mode

In Graphical Mode GUI is available to do the installation.

In Console Mode, a command prompt is available to do the configuration where a user will provide the input values.

In Silent Mode , all the details will be in a xml file and configuration is done on the basis of values in the xml file.This is the best approach if you are planning to automate the installation process.

Installation steps:

Step 1: Start Command Prompt

Step 2: Now to change to the directory where you have your Oracle weblogic setup file.

Step 3: Now execute the following command ‘.\wls1036_win32.exe

Step 4: Oracle Installer 

Step 5: Welcome screen. Click next to begin setup.

Step 6:  Choose Middleware Directory and click next.

Step 7: Register for security updates. Uncheck all the boxes and click ‘yes’ on the prompt.

Step 8: Choose installation type. Select typical installation. You can also choose custom if you want to install only few components. 

Step 9: Choose Product installation directories. By default values are 

Weblogic Server: ‘C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3’ 

Oracle Coherence: ‘C:\Oracle\Middleware\coherence_3.7’ 

We can modify the product installation directories if we want. 

Step 10: Choose shortcut location. Select the first option and click next.  

Step 11:  Installation summary. Click next.

Step 12: Installing 

Step 13: Installation Complete. Click Done to finish installation.
